Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Team Orbiq ("we", "us", "our") operates Breef, a news summarization mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Breef, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Breef mobile application, available on Android and other platforms as released. It covers information collected through the App itself, including account information, usage behavior, device data, and location data where permitted.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: If you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, or phone number, depending on your chosen sign-in method.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with Breef — including which articles you open, which topics you follow, how long you spend reading, and which stories you bookmark or share. This data powers your personalized "For You" feed and helps us understand what content is most useful to our readers.
Device & Location Data: With your permission, Breef may collect approximate location data (such as your district or division) to power the "Near You" feature. We do not use precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant that permission, and location features can be turned off at any time in your device or app settings.
Diagnostic & Analytics Data: We use standard analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand app performance, identify bugs, and improve stability. This may include device type, operating system version, and app crash logs.
Advertising Identifiers: If you see ads within Breef, our advertising partners may collect device advertising identifiers to serve and measure relevant ads, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Breef app
- Personalize your news feed through Breef Intelligence
- Send you relevant notifications and breaking news alerts
- Understand app usage patterns and improve our features
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
- Serve and measure advertising, where applicable
4. Third-Party Services
Breef relies on third-party cloud infrastructure, authentication, database, notification, and analytics providers to operate reliably and securely, as well as third-party advertising networks (such as Google's advertising services) to serve ads within the App. For security reasons, we do not publicly disclose the specific technology providers or systems we use internally. These providers process data solely to help us deliver Breef's services and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.
5. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate Breef (infrastructure, notifications, analytics, advertising), under confidentiality obligations
- Law enforcement or regulators, if required by applicable law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Breef, Team Orbiq, or our users
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the App's services. Content and usage logs may be periodically cleaned up or soft-deleted in line with our internal data retention practices. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).
7. Your Rights & Choices
You can:
- Turn off location permissions at any time through your device settings
- Manage or disable notification preferences within the App
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support-breef@teamorbiq.xyz
We will respond to such requests within a reasonable timeframe, consistent with applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
Breef is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Processing
Because Breef relies on cloud-based infrastructure, your information may be processed or stored on servers located outside Bangladesh. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure your data continues to be protected consistent with this Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please contact us at support-breef@teamorbiq.xyz.
This document is provided as a general template based on standard industry practice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. We recommend consulting legal counsel to confirm compliance with applicable data protection laws (such as any Bangladesh-specific regulations) before relying on it for compliance purposes.
